Almost another month since our last post and so much has happened!
We found out a few days after our assessment with the Caravan Club (CC) that we were successful. The next stage would be to attend two and a half days work experience and if that goes well we will then be ready for a contract in 2016.
We were delighted with this news and what’s more we both secured a job. I got the job as a Scout/Handyman at Mansfield College on 30 hours a week from 07:30 – 13:30 with breakfast and lunch provided. The dining hall where we eat lunch is very much like a scene from Harry Potter.
I was cleaning on average three student rooms a day as well as the staircase, three bathroom/shower rooms, two rooms that had a toilet and vanity sink and a twin guest room that was used as a kind of B&B.
The college has a resident cat called Erasmus, he is about 10 years old and seems to do his own thing and go where he wants.
Angela signed up with an accountancy agency and was surprised at how much work there was available. She got a job ten minutes drive from my mum’s house which was handy but the job although quite well paid was very boring. She was spoilt by my mum who prepared her a packed lunch every night which she took with her in a nice packed lunch tin that my mum had bought especially for her.
It has been great seeing my sister and brother in law and spending time with them. They have cooked us some lovely meals also.

We were getting into a nice routine with my mum who has been absolutely fantastic to us. Bearing in mind my mum is 75 this year she sees to all of our washing, cleaning and has a lovely meal ready for us at the end of the day. This is great considering she has problems with her knees and is awaiting surgery to replace a kneecap after having one done in Nov 2013.
So, suddenly Angela sends me a text at work saying that the CC have called her and she would ring me later!
To cut a long story short, we were asked how much notice we needed to give at work (a week each) as they have offered us a contract at their site in the Brecon Beacons http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/caravanclubapps/applications/uk-caravan-sites-and-parks/sitedetails.aspx?csid=21841
We start on the 10th June and finish at the end of October. We are so happy to be going back to what we know and living in our van properly again. The only down side is that we will miss my mum who as I said earlier is and has been amazing.
Angela and I both finish work today. Mum has cooked a nice curry which as I type this smells amazing. I have to finish this post soon as I have to cook the rice.
I will miss my early morning walks around Oxford and on my way home. It has brought back many memories from my childhood.
Tomorrow we are heading down to Chichester to sort the van and trailer out ready to come back to Oxford on Sunday.
