Following our training week we headed off to Sidlesham, West Sussex. Our friends Alastair and Isabel own Fieldgate Campsite and it is the first time we’ve seen them in 11 months.
As we arrived, it was obvious how much work they’ve had done on site. Not only are they gearing up ready to open the camping field, they are having their very old, dilapidated property renovated.
To enable them to have a little holiday, we stayed on site for one week while they escaped to a beautiful cottage in Devon. They took Hamish (their very handsome Scottie dog) with them so we couldn’t have as many cuddles this time, but they seemed to enjoy their time away.
Isabel and I (Angela) were able to spend a few days together. These included walking Hamish around Chichester Harbour, visiting West Wittering beach, shopping in Chichester, with every outing ending up in a coffee shop. It is the law to have coffee and cake afterwards!
Along with spending time with great friends, it has been an ideal opportunity to get the motorhome back in some kind of order again. Dean has spent hours washing and waxing the outside, while I have been tidying the inside.
We head off to Wales at the end of February to collect the trailer from Merthyr Self Storage then continue onto Pembrokeshire ready to begin work on the 11th March. Our motorhome has looked after us well over the years, but we need to treat her with care.
When Al and Isabel returned from their week away, we had just enough time to visit Thyme & Chillies, a recently opened Indian restaurant in Chichester. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and the food was excellent, with plenty of different options to choose from.
It has been a perfect end to our winter travels, but we’re now looking forward to getting back to work!
