We’ve finally made it to the east coast of England! After seven years of living in the ‘van we eventually made the journey to visit our niece Hollie and her partner, Tom.
They did some homework for us before we got there, identifying a campsite within five minutes drive of their home called The Hollies At a cost of £10 per night including electric, with a heated shower block it was a perfect place to stay.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, despite the atrocious weather conditions they were having to contend with. New hard standing pitches were being created so it was a bit muddy, and as they were new we did sink a wee bit. However, give them a season and they’ll be rock solid.
We spent five days with Hollie and Tom which was fabulous, getting to know Tom a little bit more. Although we know we’re biased, they are such a wonderful couple and we loved our time with them both.
During our stay Hollie took us to Horsey Beach, Norfolk to witness the few remaining Grey Seals there. During the months of November through to January the colony of seals heads onto the beach and surrounding dunes to give birth.
Although most had gone back to sea, we were lucky enough to see maybe 100 seals and the weather was very kind to us too!
We explored Southwold briefly, but the best thing was relaxing at their home in front of a real fire just catching up on each other’s lives.
