On the 3rd we left the Yorkshire Dales along with the wind and rain and began our route back down towards Oxford.
We broke the journey by stopping off at Poolsbrook Caravan Club site for a few nights as we wanted to visit Chesterfield, mainly to see the famous Crooked Spire in St Mary and All Saints church.
We arrived at midday and took our time choosing our pitch. It was forecast strong winds so didn’t want to be side on! We got set up, had a snack then decided to just chill out that evening and head into Chesterfield in the morning. We had a message from Geoff that evening saying that he was going to be arriving here tomorrow. We think he is stalking us!
As planned we drove into Chesterfield for a look around and to see the Crooked Spire which looks very impressive. It was very interesting to read the various theories as to why it is twisted. My favourite is……………………
The spire bent down to take a look at the first virgin bride to pass through it’s door and it will only straighten up again when the next virgin bride passes through.
We wandered around the town center for while longer before doing our usual search for a decent a coffee shop for some light refreshments. As it was getting chilly and we had seen what we came in for we went back to the car and drove back to site to see our stalker 🙂
Today, the day before we all parted company again we all went for a six mile walk. It wasn’t the best walk for views but a well earned pint each and a meal in the local pub Harley’s after was.
