We had to go into Skipton to get some shopping today and as the weather wasn’t too bad we decided first to go for walk along the canal past Skipton Castle and on into Skipton Wood.
Typical! As soon as we parked up the heavens opened up so we sat for a while deciding whether to go for a walk or go straight to the supermarket. By the time we had finished deliberating it had slowed a bit so went for our walk.
We have been before and it is a nice walk from the canal basin with lots of wildlife to see. Due to the recent heavy rain here the streams were more like rivers and there were a few waterfalls which we didn’t notice on our last visit.
I took my better camera with me to try out some different settings. I’m glad I did because we spotted a couple of Kingfishers darting around the pond in the wooded area. Brilliant blue flashes showing up well against the dull backdrop. I managed to get a couple of pictures of one perched on a branch Taken at full zoom and I didn’t have a tripod so the image is a bit blurred. You can clearly see it is a Kingfisher though????
After walking on a bit around the wood the rain slowed to a stop so we decided to make our way back to the car and on to the supermarket. We wanted to get back to see Geoff, a good friend of ours who had text us that he had arrived on site with his nice new van. As well as coming to show us around his van we were hoping to get some walking in while he is here.
