Our plan was this weekend was to walk into Porth again along the coastal path as we felt we’d not done it justice the other day on our walk into Newquay. Sunday was a glorious day, albeit a bit cooler so we thought it would be ideal for a stroll. We didn’t want anything too strenuous as we had just experienced our first weekend of THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS!
Some people turned up over three hours early but they were very good natured when we explained they’d have to leave site until those who had paid up until midday decided to leave. Due to the horrors of the A30 a lot of people leave really early, only to be surprised when they sail through! Some of our campers had been travelling since the early hours of the morning so they were just glad to be here.
The main shock to us was the amount of people that just seem to have appeared in Cornwall, all within the space of one day! It has a completely different vibe to it now and it has taken us over a week to get used to it.
Anyway, back to our walk and Dean decided we could scramble down the cliff face to get onto Watergate Bay beach early. I wasn’t convinced but after much nagging (sorry, encouragement) we both made it down but to the detriment of my energy levels. My legs felt like two strands of spaghetti after all that effort and I was completely exhausted. We got as far as the footpath to Porth from Watergate Bay when I turned round to Dean who took one look at me and dragged me off to the Phoenix Bar for a drink!
After staring into space for about an hour we made our way back and just sat outside in the sun. Dean did some repair work on our bicycles while I just read and snoozed. Then he joined me and we spent a lazy day enjoying the weather.
