We’re well into the new year now so a touch of ‘spring cleaning’ was in order. Having checked the weather forecast we made the decision to go back to Oxford today as snow was forecast for the coming week.
At Oxford we still have loads of clothes that we’ve not worn since 2008 so armed with bin bags we set to and collated three bags worth to go to either charity, family or the bin. Business suits we used to wear will never be worn again, especially as neither of us can fit into them now! Chris looked after us so well again and tried to fatten us up. Our timing was perfect, with the snow having fallen and Chris still recovering from knee surgery we were on hand to walk to the shops for any provisions needed.
We managed to visit our very good friends, Sherry and Frank one evening. True friends are those you may not have spoken to for months but as soon as you meet it’s like you’ve never been apart. Dean and I had such a good laugh with them, we miss them when we’re apart.
Our stay in Oxford was extended unintentionally, due to the amount of snow that had fallen. Maybe we would have left for Hereford earlier but as we only have a Smart car we decided it wasn’t worth the risk. The journey is all country roads and the Cotswolds were particularly hard hit so we made sure the yurt was still standing, then headed into the loft.
Again, a lot of our ‘home-making’ kit is in the loft just in case we ever move back into bricks and mortar again. Having looked at what we’ve got, we’re keeping it all…
One of our favourite places in Oxford is Christ Church Meadow, especially when it is covered in snow. We had a walk through it this week and it is beautiful every time you visit.
We were finally able to leave Oxford the following Thursday. Oxford had defrosted but the nearer we got to Hereford the whiter the landscape became, but thankfully most drivers were being cautious so the drive back was without drama. The only hairy bit was coming back onto site as the snow was still there!
