Last night we went out for a meal to the site restaurant (first and only time) and were pleasantly surprised! The staff were very friendly as always, the food was lovely and the company top notch! The meal was to say ‘au revoir’ to our friends (Hamish and Lucy’s staff) Al & Isobel who we met on the rally.
They are off to pastures new so we all went out for the evening along with their friends who had just returned from the UK. It was a great evening and we had a wonderful time, even though we know it’s going to be a while before we see them again. This is one of the best things about our way of life – we have met some fantastic people on our travels who are kindred spirits really – the rally was worth it just for that.
However, today we made the final push to getting everything packed for our departure tomorrow night. We took our time and think we have stowed all our stuff wisely…ask us again at the end of the trip! It is amazing, no matter how many times you do it you always pack things differently hopefully for the better. Once we had finished we took a stroll down to the Mar Menor one last time and it looked stunning, along with the Parakeets squawking overhead. A boat that we see every day moored out there belongs to artists who work for the campsite throughout the season at various points…not drug runners as our other friends first thought!
Our day was not over though as we had been invited round to Brian & Kate’s for a farewell drink. They are also off to pastures new but a little while after us, hopefully they’ll then discover the true benefits of having a motorhome! They had put on a lovely spread of goodies, having fibbed to us that it was only a drink – we ended up staying until the sun went down, and only then because it got really cold!
Again, they are two fantastic people we’ve met and will keep in touch with them for as long as they can put up with us – our trip to Spain has been great.
It was lovely to read the latest update to your blog. But it made us miss you even more! You are right though – the trip to Spain and the whole rally experience has been worth it because of the lovely new friends we have made. Can’t wait to meet up again – we will certainly have plenty to catch up about!
It might be worth double checking your new ‘about us’ page, I don’t think your update has worked properly.
Will email with all our news soon – still settling in!
