…Wednesday we motored into Cartagena to the large Carrefour supermarket to stock up on some goodies for Christmas Day. They have a very good selection of produce, many things you would expect to find in the UK (well, it is Christmas after all!) and it was great as there were no hordes of people rushing around at the last minute.
We’d prepared well for the journey with all panniers and tank bag attached, but we didn’t need all the space in the end. On our way back we called into The Missing Link butchers in Los Belones. run by a couple originally from Oundle in Northamptonshire (www.missinglinks.biz). The other week we bought some lamb from them and it tasted wonderful.
The service they provide is second to none, with nothing too much trouble. They make you feel as if your custom is important to them and they take great pride in their business. We’re back off there tomorrow to collect a few last minute bits and pieces – we already have our lamb marinating ready for Christmas Day! By the way, their Chelsea buns are quite nice too…
The campsite is filling up quite quickly now with only the front row of pitches left, and listening to a few conversations the ‘satellite TV man’ has run out of dishes… We can honestly say we’ve not missed TV (we do get the news intermittently) and we are getting on really well with each other – maybe there’s something to be said for not having a goggle box so easy to hand.
It is still quite quiet and peaceful though and we cycled to the salinas again today along the Mar Menor – as flat as a millpond, with a haze hovering on the horizon. We also popped into a bar along the Strip where we watched the tractor going up and down tidying up the beach, while watching the waves rolling in – pictures to follow…
you only bought 3 oysters? did you enjoy them?
