30th September 2011 Last Working Day:-)

Well it has finally arrived! Today was our final day here at ‘The Millpond’ in Hereford.

We began working here back in April and since then it has been full on! We had so many plans to go off on our weekends off but were too tired to do so. If we come back here next year (and we hope we will) we will do a lot more. Especially as we are finished now until next March so we should get plenty of rest. We should know if we are coming back here in the next few weeks.

Today was a strange day but the best part about it was that Angela has been on the phone and booked our trip away Smile we are booked on the ferry from Dover to Calais on the 3rd November and have got 10 days to get down to La Manga (Spain). We are booked on the campsite for 63 days before heading back to the ferry home on the 26th January.

Tonight we decided to have a fish supper washed down with a bottle of bubbly! We know how to live:Winking smile

On Monday we are going down to Poole (Dorset) for our first MOT on the motorhome and its annual habitation check. After that we will be coming back here to Hereford to begin sorting ourselves out ready to leave.

We may do a bit of walking, a bit of fishing and a bit of sightseeing so watch this space for updates.

As I am writing this Angela has began watching Strictly Come Dancing which she thoroughly enjoys. So much so that when it is on she will not speak to me so I have to fend for myself.

That’s enough for now so I will sign off and watch some scantily clad women dancing around looking pretty. Tomorrow we are planning to watch England play Scotland in the Rugby World Cup.

About Dean

Angela and I decided that there was more to life than working hard to keep up the payments on the mortgage, to pay the gas, electric, phone bills etc. etc. SO............ In 2008 we sold our house, I initially took a year off (Unpaid) and Angela handed in her notice! We bought a motorhome and set off for a year of travelling! This was the best thing we had done in our lives (Apart from getting married) and we have no regrets. During the year I managed to secure a redundancy package which felt very strange. Almost sad as I had worked for the same company for 19 years (BT). It was always our plan to have a whole year off before thinking about the 'W' word. We began applying to the Camping and Caravanning Club (CCC) for the position of Holiday site assistants in August 2009. After the interview, work experience and induction we were finally given a contract at the CCC site in Inverewe (Scotland). Our plan is to work through the summer in the UK then head to Europe to overwinter before coming back to work the following summer season. Hopefully these few words and our blog will inspire others to get off the hamsters wheel and see that there is more to live than having a house and material things. A cliche I know but this is not a rehearsal, life is too short!!! Since our first contract in Scotland we have worked a winter contract in Oxford (never again!) not Oxford but a winter contract. Hereford for two years, living in a yurt for one! And Cornwall. In between our working we have also travelled a bit. Hopefully this website will give you an insight into our alternative lifestyle. Get out there and live the dream!
