The Millpond hosted a Right Royal Afternoon Tea Party this Sunday to celebrate the Royal Wedding. After a leisurely breakfast we had a walk around the lake then got ready to help out in the afternoon.
We didn’t realise how organised the whole thing would be, with tables laid out and menus to choose from. Sally & I were the waitresses for the afternoon, Dean was in charge of cold drinks and Paul did a grand job of serving teas and coffees most of the day.
Bill was also a waiter for the afternoon with Lynn being the Head Chef, keeping everyone in order especially her tea man who would only take instruction from her! Most people from the campsite joined in the fun and we were kept busy all the time with orders coming in and people ordering seconds, although I managed to eat a cream tea..
A raffle was held in support of a charity called Hope, that helps children who are carers for terminally ill parents. With the support from our campers we raised just under £300 for the charity so all the hard work was worth it.
Then when all was over the great clean up began, again with the campers helping us to put all the tables away while we washed and cleared up the kitchen. To end the day we all had a cream tea together and left Bill and Lynn to sort all the money out!
