We’re snowed in! For the last few days the weather has been getting colder and now we have seven inches of snow and rising.. All the pipes in the ‘van have frozen up so we have no running water.
It wouldn’t be so bad if the shower block had heating in it, but when you open the door to go in there is ice on the inside of the block. One day Dean had to break the ice in the toilet pans to be able to clean and make the facilities serviceable! I think we can safely say we’ve earned our stripes in the ‘camping’ world – taking a shower when the temperature is minus 15 takes guts! You don’t hang about that’s for sure…
The vegetables in the awning have frozen solid, and the Lenor conditioner is now a block of ice. We’ve had to bring items ‘in from the cold’ otherwise they’ll break. Dean dug a path from the ‘van but we still need to use wellington boots to get outside. The rear of the ‘van has a sheet of ice attached to it.
It has been a challenge to keep the ‘van warm inside, until Dean went and bought a convector heater. We are now enjoying temperatures of up to 25C so I no longer have a fear of developing hypothermia! Before, the mattress was so cold it stopped me from sleeping but no more. Now we don’t want to get up in the mornings!
