It was a sad day when family left us on the 13th but we were soon happy again as more family turned up on the 17th! Angela’s aunt and uncle, Marion & Bill arrived on site on Tuesday as part of their annual pilgrimage to Scotland.
Marion’s family come from Forres on the east coast so they try and come up every year, but this time they made a special detour to visit us! We all went out for a meal on the Tuesday night and it was great to see them and catch up with what’s going on. They have always been supportive of what we’re doing and it was absolutely brilliant to see them.
Wednesday they toured the area, taking in the views on the route to Ullapool and in the evening we all went to the Ceilidh. It brought back happy memories for Marion of her childhood years in Scotland. We both won on the raffle again, but luckily the prize wasn’t the live lobster that was one of the prizes!
Today though they’ve travelled on to the east coast to visit more family.
We took a ride into Ullapool ourselves yesterday as the weather was good, stopping for a coffee in The Frigate.
Today we were able to get out again and took the Cove road out to the remains of the old gun emplacements. The pesky midges are here though so we didn’t stay long, boy they’re a pain!
Now we need to decide our route back south as it is less than a month until our contract ends. We now know we’re going to be working at Oxford CCC for the winter (or rather, Dean is!) so we have to come up with a plan!
