A few weeks ago Dean received an invitation to his friend Ian’s wedding to his partner Tracey. The venue was in a village called Horley, three miles outside Banbury at the Scout Camp.
We set off Saturday morning and easily found the place which is absolutely fantastic. It is set in eleven acres of open grassland with the surrounding woods totalling 24 acres so a perfect setting for youngsters to enjoy the experience of Scouting.
A marquee was the venue for the evening reception with a bar, food and entertainment laid on. Fire pits were lit later as the sun went down adding to the overall chilled out feeling of the day.
Tracey & Ian were driven to the reception by Keith who donated his VW Camper Van for the occasion. This is the second wedding we’ve been to where the Wedding ‘Car’ has been a VW – great minds…
Dean met up with friends from the annual P&D camp he has been to occasionally. Every year in August a group of former Scouts and Scout leaders have their own ‘camp’ without having the responsibility of caring for young people.
We had arrived early so we got HMS Robyn level, laid out the picnic blanket and treated ourselves to a glass of Hereford cider. The setting and the weather lent itself to a perfect afternoon for sitting in a field enjoying nature.
